Knoxville, TN (August 6, 2025) — Two people sustained serious injuries during a crash on Interstate 640 that disrupted traffic for several hours on Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, the Knoxville Police Department responded to the crash just before 4 p.m. on August 5 along the westbound lanes of Interstate 640 near the Broadway exit. Emergency crews found a vehicle with significant damage and closed two travel lanes, causing major delays until the scene was cleared around 8 p.m.

KPD confirmed that the driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a passenger in the vehicle sustained injuries that were possibly life-threatening. Fortunately, a child riding in the backseat was not injured.
