Monroe County, MI (June 18, 2025) – A tragic collision on North Telegraph Road in Ash Township resulted in the death of a 30-year-old woman from Carleton, Michigan, on Monday evening.
According to reports, Jessica Benner was traveling on N. Telegraph Road when her vehicle struck the rear of a flat-bed truck that had stopped to turn into a private drive on the west side of the roadway. The crash occurred on the evening of June 16.
Authorities from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the 65-year-old truck driver, also from Carleton, had activated his left turn signal and brake lights before being rear-ended. Following the impact, Benner’s car rotated and came to rest on the road’s shoulder, facing southeast. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver was not injured and was released following the incident. Investigators do not believe alcohol or speed played a role in the crash.
