Carroll County, VA (January 5, 2025) – A single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning claimed the life of a 19-year-old driver and left a passenger seriously injured in Carroll County.
Virginia State Police (VSP) reported that the crash occurred at approximately 1:01 a.m. on Route 643. A 2013 Nissan Altima traveling southbound failed to negotiate a curve, veered off the left side of the roadway, and struck a tree head-on before colliding with a second tree.
The driver, identified as 19-year-old Elijah B. Slavey of Low Gap, NC, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to VSP, Slavey was not wearing a seatbelt.
The passenger, 19-year-old Marvin D. Delp, III, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Delp was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation by VSP.
