Chicago, IL (May 31, 2025) – A serious crash early Saturday morning sent two Chicago police officers and a cyclist to the hospital after a police vehicle overturned near the CTA Green Line station.
According to reports, the accident happened around 3:11 a.m. in the 400 block of North Central Avenue. Officers were traveling northbound in a marked vehicle when they lost control, causing their car to roll over and come to rest in the middle of the roadway.
Both officers suffered injuries. A male officer sustained a hand injury and was taken to a hospital where he is expected to recover. A female officer suffered a more serious leg injury and was hospitalized in serious condition. A nearby cyclist was also struck by debris from the crash but is expected to be OK after being treated at an area hospital. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by CPD Area Four detectives.
