Colorado Springs, CO (May 15, 2025) – A deadly two-vehicle accident shut down a major stretch of Academy Boulevard on the morning of May 14, resulting in one fatality and another person hospitalized.

According to reports, the collision occurred just after 8 a.m. near the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Bijou Street. Initially, only the northbound lanes were blocked, but by 9 a.m., authorities closed both directions of Academy Boulevard from Platte Avenue to Bijou Street as emergency crews worked at the scene.

Police confirmed that both a driver and a passenger in one of the vehicles required extrication. They were taken to a local hospital, where the driver was later pronounced dead. The passenger’s condition has not been disclosed.
