Cooper County, MO (January 18, 2025) – A 76-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 70 early Saturday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. at the 101-mile marker on I-70 westbound. Authorities reported that a 2021 Chevrolet Equinox was struck from behind by an unidentified vehicle. After the collision, the second vehicle fled the scene, leaving the Chevrolet Equinox damaged.
The impact caused the Chevrolet to slide off the road, cross ramp 5056, and strike a ditch. The driver, a female resident of Independence, MO, was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. She was transported to the University of Missouri Hospital by Cooper County EMS for treatment.
The fleeing vehicle has not been identified, and an investigation is ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact local law enforcement.
