News sources show the collision occurred around 10:58 a.m. on May 28 at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 1960 and County Road 608. According to authorities, a commercial roll-off truck traveling eastbound veered into oncoming traffic, striking a westbound 18-wheeler head-on.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, 63-year-old Lawrence Al James of Houston, was critically injured and transported to Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The roll-off truck’s driver, 53-year-old Gloria Braxton, and her passenger, 53-year-old Oscar Gonzalez-Enrique, both from Houston, sustained injuries and were taken to Kingwood Hospital for treatment. The crash led to a full closure of the roadway for several hours as crews cleared the scene and investigators worked to determine the cause.
