According to reports, the San Antonio Police Department responded to the intersection of West Hildebrand Avenue and Blanco Road around 9:00 p.m. on July 14. Investigators say Deborah Melendez, 68, was crossing the street against a do not walk signal when she failed to yield to oncoming traffic. She was struck by a gray Nissan Sentra traveling westbound through the intersection.
Melendez was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed that the driver of the Nissan, a man, stayed at the crash site and is cooperating fully with investigators. The accident remains under investigation as officials work to determine all contributing factors.
