North Aurora, IL (October 29, 2025) — Two Chicago residents were tragically killed Saturday night in a crash on Interstate 88 in North Aurora, according to the Kane County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police.
According to the Illinois State Police, the deadly incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. on October 25 in the westbound lanes of I-88 near Mitchell Road. Authorities initially reported that two vehicles were involved, but the coroner’s office later stated that only one vehicle appeared to be connected to the crash.
The victims were identified as 32-year-old Diego Nava Torres and 33-year-old Samantha Ortiz, both of Chicago. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary autopsy findings indicate they died from multiple traumatic injuries caused by the crash.
Investigators have not yet released information on the circumstances that led to the crash. The Illinois State Police and the Kane County Coroner’s Office are continuing their investigation.
