Rochester, NY (August 8, 2025) – A pit bull attack at Ontario Beach Park sent three people, including two children, to the hospital during a Friday afternoon outing. The incident happened around 12:50 p.m. on August 1, when police say a 6-year-old girl, an 8-year-old boy, and a 21-year-old woman were bitten.
According to reports, witnesses say the dog ran toward the 6-year-old while she was on a swing and began biting her feet. A teacher intervened to pull her to safety but was bitten herself. An 8-year-old boy, who also tried to help, suffered the most severe injuries, with one bite reaching down to the bone. All three victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Rochester Animal Services seized two dogs, now under a mandatory 10-day quarantine. Community leaders met days later to address public concerns about the attack and safety in the park.
