Tempe, AZ (September 8, 2025) – One person is dead and two others are recovering after a three-vehicle crash early Sunday morning at the intersection of University Drive and Rural Road in Tempe.
According to the Tempe Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after midnight on September 8. Authorities say the driver of one vehicle ran a red light and struck a car that had the right of way under a green arrow. The impact caused a third vehicle to be hit before crashing into the front of Einstein Bros. Bagels on Rural Road.
Tempe Fire Medical Rescue transported all three injured individuals to local hospitals. By 7:44 a.m., one of the victims had died from their injuries, according to a police spokesperson.
