Ephrata, WA (August 5, 2025) – An early morning crash in Grant County sent two people to the hospital after a vehicle veered off the road in a suspected DUI incident.

According to reports, the accident took place just after 3:30 a.m. on August 4 along Highway 28, about one mile south of Ephrata. Authorities from the Washington State Patrol say the car was traveling east when it left the roadway and crashed into a ditch.

Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time and were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been made public.

The driver has been charged with vehicular assault and driving under the influence. Troopers stated the crash was caused by impaired driving and possibly falling asleep at the wheel. WSP continues to investigate.
