Butler Township, PA (September 4, 2025) – An 81-year-old man from Kingston died Tuesday afternoon following a violent rollover crash on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County, according to state officials.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the deadly accident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. on September 2 along the northbound lanes of I-81. Authorities say Esau Foster was driving a 2013 GMC Acadia when his vehicle struck the rear driver’s side tire of a 1992 Kenworth tractor-trailer.
The collision caused Foster’s SUV to overturn several times, eventually coming to rest in the median of the interstate. Emergency responders extricated Foster from the wreckage and initially transported him to Lehigh Valley Schuylkill – East Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, where he was pronounced dead.
The Lehigh County Coroner ruled Foster’s death was caused by blunt force trauma and listed the manner of death as accidental.
