According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 8:16 p.m. on November 6 along Ladnier Road, just south of Highway 90. Gautier Police Chief David Bever stated that witnesses saw the car drive around the lowered crossing arms before being struck by the oncoming train.
The driver, Tavarios Johnson of Gautier, was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.
