Saraland, AL (June 20, 2025) — A tragic boating accident in Mobile County claimed the life of 27-year-old Brittney Sherman on Sunday, leaving behind her husband and four children.
According to reports, the collision occurred around 5:50 p.m. on June 15 in Bayou Sara, near Saraland. Authorities from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) say a 20-foot Avid Center Console vessel carrying the Sherman family collided with a 26-foot Regulator Center Console boat. The impact threw Brittney overboard.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but rescue efforts were hindered by the bayou’s murky water. The search resumed Monday morning, and Brittney’s body was recovered around 10:50 a.m., approximately 100 yards from where she entered the water.
Two passengers on the Avid boat were injured. Brittney’s husband, Cody Sherman, was taken to USA Health University Hospital, and their 4-year-old child was also hospitalized. The boat’s operator and the occupants of the Regulator vessel were not hurt.
The ALEA Marine Patrol Division continues to investigate the crash. No charges have been filed.
