Jackson Township, PA (October 1, 2025) – A heartbreaking collision in Northumberland County claimed the lives of two children Sunday night when a car struck a horse-drawn buggy carrying six people along Route 225.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the tragic crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on September 28 in the 4000 block of Route 225. A 2014 Mini Cooper, driven by 39-year-old John M. Koperna Jr. of Pottsville, reportedly struck the buggy from behind. Koperna told police he may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
