According to reports, the accident occurred around 3 p.m. on June 16 in the 2700 block of Margaret Wallace Road near Independence Boulevard. Authorities say Nina Kalapuch, the driver of a Toyota Camry, veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a retaining wall.
Emergency responders arrived to find Kalapuch unconscious. She was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. Preliminary findings from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department indicate that neither speed nor impairment appear to have played a role in the crash.
