Hancock County, IN (June 3, 2025) — A two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon resulted in the death of a woman in Hancock County.
According to reports, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of County Road 600 East and U.S. Highway 40 around 3:35 p.m. on June 2. Deputies discovered a 2017 Acura ILX and a 2012 Ford F-350 involved in a serious crash. Authorities stated that the driver of the Acura, an adult female and the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Ford F-350 was operated by a juvenile male who was transported to IU Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary findings reveal the Acura was traveling northbound on County Road 600 East and entered the path of the eastbound Ford F-350 on U.S. Highway 40. Both vehicles came to rest in a nearby field following the impact.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though deputies do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved.
