Washington Township, PA (August 5, 2025) – A devastating collision on Route 66 claimed the lives of two women Saturday afternoon in Washington Township.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 1 p.m. on August 2, when a northbound SUV driven by Janice Ciorra, 67, of Washington Township crossed into the southbound lane near Paradise Drive. Her vehicle collided nearly head-on with another SUV operated by 63-year-old Cynthia Ament of Elizabeth.
Ament was pronounced dead at the scene. Ciorra was airlifted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she later succumbed to her injuries. No passengers were present in either vehicle, and witnesses reportedly saw the crash unfold.
Route 66 remained closed between Paradise Drive and Turack Road until about 5:15 p.m. as authorities conducted their investigation.
Washington Township Police, assisted by Pennsylvania State Police, continue to investigate the cause of the deadly crash.
