Wichita County, TX (August 15, 2025) — A two-vehicle crash Wednesday night tragically claimed the life of a woman traveling near Wichita Falls, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to reports, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m. on August 13 on U.S. Highway 287, about eight miles west of Wichita Falls. Authorities say a 2015 Ford Edge was traveling northbound in the left lane when it veered off the roadway and entered the center median. The driver overcorrected, re-entered the highway, and crashed into a piece of equipment that was attached to an unoccupied 1988 Kenworth truck parked in a closed construction lane.

A passenger in the Ford, 52-year-old Madeleine Blanco-Garcia of Dumas, was transported to United Regional Health Care System in Wichita Falls, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, identified as 35-year-old Yohana Rosalia Linero-Blanco, also from Dumas, was not injured.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
