According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. on December 12. Investigators say a 2015 Chevrolet 1500, driven by a 76-year-old man from Elsberry, Missouri, pulled into the path of a northbound 1998 Western Star semi-truck. The larger vehicle struck the Chevrolet on the driver’s side, causing fatal injuries to the pickup driver.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Jason Luna at 11:06 a.m. and was transported by Schlanker Funeral Home. The 77-year-old semi-truck driver, from Silex, Missouri, suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital in Troy.
