Asheville, NC (June 10, 2025) – A man was killed after being ejected from a Jeep in a violent crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 240 West over the weekend.
According to reports, the Asheville Police Department responded to the scene near Exit 1B at approximately 2:52 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. Investigators say 41-year-old Zachariah Robert Cosgrove was driving a 2015 Jeep Wrangler westbound when he changed lanes and struck a 1984 Pontiac Firebird. The impact caused the Jeep to overturn and collide with a 2018 Ford F-150, which also flipped.
Cosgrove, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the Jeep and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to Mission Hospital, where he later died. A passenger riding in the Jeep was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Other vehicle occupants involved did not report serious injuries.
