According to reports, the incident began around 2:18 a.m. when a Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) officer attempted to stop a car exiting I-95 onto Key Highway in Baltimore. The driver of the Infiniti refused to pull over, prompting a chase.
During the pursuit, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pillar under the interstate. Both the driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
