Burnet County, TX (July 31, 2025) – A devastating multi-vehicle collision claimed the lives of five people Friday evening in Burnet County, according to state authorities.

According to reports, the crash occurred around 6 p.m. on July 26 along U.S. Highway 281 near Park Road 4. Texas Department of Public Safety investigators say a pickup truck hauling a livestock trailer crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with one vehicle before striking an SUV traveling behind it. The impact caused the SUV to overturn and catch fire.

Tragically, all five people inside the SUV died at the scene. Officials identified the victims as Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez, and Jacqueline Velazco. Their ages and hometowns have not been publicly disclosed.

DPS troopers are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash, including any factors that may have contributed to the pickup truck veering out of its lane.
