Courtland Township, MI (June 25, 2025) – A devastating crash near Rockford claimed the lives of two drivers Tuesday morning following a violent collision that led to a fire and vehicle rollover.
According to reports, the crash occurred around 8 a.m. on June 25 at the intersection of 13 Mile Road and Courtland Drive in Courtland Township. The Kent County Sheriff’s Office said two vehicles collided at the intersection, causing one to roll over and catch fire.
Both drivers were killed. One victim died at the scene, while the other was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital. No passengers were involved in the crash, and authorities are continuing to investigate the cause.
Among the victims was 25-year-old Sam Deems, deputy chief of the Casnovia Township Fire Department, the agency confirmed.
