The impact of the crash killed both drivers at the scene. The Ford driver was identified as Tremayne D. Gross, 24, of Washington, D.C., and the Jeep driver as Elizabeth N. Mathis, 32, of Westminster, Maryland. Virginia State Police confirmed that both victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
