George County, MS (June 26, 2025) — A Sunday evening crash claimed the life of a Lucedale man and sent five others to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 98.

According to reports, the crash occurred around 6:00 p.m. on June 23. Authorities say a 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander, driven by 38-year-old Angelina Jantes of Texas, was traveling westbound on Highway 98 with four passengers when it collided with a 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz.

The Hyundai was driven by 52-year-old Jason Blue of Lucedale, who was heading north on Old Mobile Highway. The impact of the crash resulted in fatal injuries to Blue, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jantes, along with adult passenger Leonel Miralrrio Jr. and three juvenile passengers from Lancaster and Dallas, Texas, were all transported to a local hospital with injuries. The extent of those injuries has not yet been disclosed.

Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
