Sauk Village, IL (June 28, 2025) – A deadly collision on Illinois Route 394 claimed the life of a 29-year-old Beecher man on Monday morning after his car struck the back of a semitrailer.
According to reports, Elliot Cruz-Cobos was traveling southbound on Illinois Route 394 just north of Steger Road in Sauk Village when the crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. on June 23. Illinois State Police said Cruz-Cobos’ vehicle collided with the rear of a semi, then continued off the road into a field. The impact caused significant front-end damage to the car.
The Lake County, Indiana Coroner’s Office confirmed that Cruz-Cobos was pronounced dead at 8:40 a.m. due to multiple blunt force injuries. The collision forced authorities to close all southbound lanes of Route 394 for several hours before reopening around 11:30 a.m.
State Police continue to investigate what led to the fatal crash and have not released additional information at this time.
