West Friendship, MD (June 6, 2025) – Tragedy struck early Thursday morning following a fiery collision on Interstate 70 in Howard County.
News sources show that at approximately 4:19 a.m., Maryland State Police responded to eastbound Interstate 70 near Sand Hill Road after receiving reports of a serious accident. According to investigators, a pickup truck hauling a trailer collided with a tractor-trailer, resulting in a massive fire that engulfed both vehicles.
Firefighters quickly arrived on scene and extinguished the flames. Sadly, the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer did not sustain any injuries. The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were closed for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation and worked to clear the scene.
At this time, the cause of the crash remains under active investigation by Maryland State Police.
