Panama City Beach, FL (August 25, 2025) – A tragic DUI-related collision claimed the life of one man and left a woman critically injured early Sunday morning in Bay County, according to authorities.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on August 24 on County Road 392 (Thomas Drive), when 26-year-old Alexander Morrison of Lynn Haven was driving an SUV westbound in the inside lane. Ahead of him, a 64-year-old man from Panama City Beach was operating a motorcycle in the same lane.
Morrison failed to slow down or change lanes and struck the rear of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn and ejecting both the driver and his 28-year-old female passenger from Fort Walton Beach. The male rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Ascension Sacred Heart Bay.
Morrison reportedly fled the immediate scene but was detained shortly after at the intersection of Thomas Drive and County Road 30B. He was arrested for multiple charges, including DUI manslaughter, DUI with serious bodily injury, and leaving the scene of a crash.
