According to reports, Michigan State Police say the fatal crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. on July 1 along Lake Road near Stone Road. A golf cart carrying three people was traveling westbound on Lake Road when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck driven by a 56-year-old man from Bronson.
The 61-year-old golf cart driver, a resident of White Pigeon, died at the scene. His two passengers suffered serious injuries and were transported to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for further treatment. The pickup truck driver was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators believe speed and drugs may have been factors in this devastating collision. It remains unclear if any safety restraints were in use at the time. The crash is still under investigation by Michigan State Police.
