According to the Arkansas State Police, the collision occurred at approximately 5:31 p.m. on December 31, 2025, along State Highway 367 in Diaz. A northbound 2012 Chevrolet, driven by 45-year-old Santos Reyes Gonzales of Newport, reportedly crossed the center turn lane and struck a 2007 Nissan head-on.
The Nissan was driven by 77-year-old Shirley Hudson of Cash, who tragically died as a result of the crash.
Santos Reyes Gonzales and his passenger, 47-year-old Isabela Reyes Gonzales, were both injured and transported to Unity Health and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for treatment. The Arkansas Department of Transportation confirmed the crash scene was cleared by 6:55 p.m.
