Philadelphia, PA (December 22, 2025) – A bicyclist was fatally struck in a tragic hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning in West Philadelphia.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the collision occurred around 3:44 a.m. on December 20 at the intersection of North 56th Street and Lancaster Avenue. Authorities say both the victim and a red SUV, possibly a Jeep Cherokee, were traveling west on Lancaster Avenue when the bicyclist, a 54-year-old man, attempted to turn left onto North 56th Street. The SUV struck him during the turn.
Rather than stopping to help, the driver continued westbound, fleeing the scene. Emergency responders rushed the victim to Lankenau Hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 5 a.m. The suspect remains at large, and the Philadelphia Police Crash Investigation Division is actively investigating the incident.
