Erie, PA (December 11, 2025) — A fatal hit-and-run involving a bicyclist is under investigation in Erie after a sport-utility vehicle struck and killed a man on the city’s west side.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident occurred around 6:53 p.m. on December 9 at the intersection of West Eighth Street and Liberty Street. A 66-year-old male bicyclist was riding in the area when he was hit by a red or orange SUV traveling east on West Eighth Street. The SUV fled the scene following the crash.
The injured cyclist was transported to UPMC Hamot where he was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m., according to the Erie County Coroner’s Office. The victim’s name has not been released.
