Amarillo, TX (September 4, 2025) – A tragic motorcycle crash claimed the life of a local man on Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 287, north of Amarillo.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly collision occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. on September 3 along the stretch of US 87/287. Authorities say 44-year-old Arron Roland of Amarillo was riding his motorcycle northbound when he lost control and veered from the inside lane into the outside lane.
His motorcycle collided with a pickup truck, resulting in Roland being ejected. He struck multiple poles and a guardrail before coming to rest. Despite wearing a helmet, Roland was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck was unharmed and had been wearing a seatbelt at the time. No other injuries were reported.
Texas DPS is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
