Clinton, NY (July 12, 2025) — A tragic collision in the Town of Kirkland claimed the life of a Herkimer man following a motorcycle crash involving a pickup truck on Thursday morning.

According to reports, the fatal crash happened around 11:38 a.m. on July 11 along Route 5. New York State Police say 78-year-old Ronald J. Jubis of Marcy was driving a pickup truck and attempted to make a left turn from French Road onto Route 5. At that moment, 34-year-old David A. Humphrey II was riding his motorcycle westbound on Route 5 when he collided with the rear driver’s side door of the turning truck.

Humphrey was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel. Jubis was transported to Wynn Hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the events leading up to the deadly impact.
