Knoxville, TN (January 21, 2026) – A motorcyclist was killed Sunday night, January 18, in a devastating head-on crash on Interstate 640 that led to multiple felony charges for a 27-year-old driver now in custody.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 7:15 p.m. when Eric Ramon Alcantara-Guevara allegedly lost control of an Acura while entering I-640 westbound from Old Broadway. The vehicle struck a side barrier, spun around, and began driving the wrong way, heading eastbound.
Alcantara-Guevara then reportedly attempted to correct his direction, triggering a violent head-on collision with a motorcycle. The adult male rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcantara-Guevara and a passenger fled on foot but were later apprehended by responding Knoxville police officers.
He now faces charges including vehicular homicide, DUI (first offense), leaving the scene, and violating Tennessee’s financial responsibility law.
