Cape Girardeau, MO (December 10, 2025) – A serious crash involving four vehicles occurred late in the day on December 8 along Route AB, approximately four miles west of Scott City.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident unfolded around 5:20 p.m. when a 2022 Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound crossed the center line and struck a 2004 Chevrolet Express van and a westbound 2008 Chevrolet Colorado. The impact caused the Express to veer into the westbound lane, where it collided with a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. All vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene.
The 33-year-old male driver of the Elantra, from Cape Girardeau, was pronounced dead at the scene by the county deputy coroner. A 5-year-old girl and a 33-year-old woman from Leopold, both occupants of the Equinox, suffered moderate and minor injuries respectively. Two other drivers were also injured and transported to St. Francis Medical Center for treatment.
