Saratoga Springs, NY (October 3, 2024) – New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the northbound side of the Northway on Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened just north of the Exit 14 off-ramp.
At around 4:52 p.m. on October 1, troopers responded to the scene of a two-car collision, during which one of the vehicles overturned multiple times. The driver of the overturned car, identified as 25-year-old Makenzie Minkler of Rensselaer, was transported to Saratoga Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
State police reported that the initial crash caused a secondary three-car collision, though no injuries were reported in the second incident.
The exit ramp and the northbound right lane were closed for approximately four hours while law enforcement worked at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
