Tillamook, OR (September 11, 2025) – A tragic pedestrian crash took place early Tuesday morning in Tillamook County, leaving one person dead after they were struck by a semi-truck on a rural stretch of highway.
According to the Oregon State Police, the incident occurred around 8:25 a.m. on September 6 along Highway 6 near milepost 30. Investigators say 64-year-old Scott Lee Gotchall of Portland was driving a white Freightliner semi eastbound when 25-year-old Jaime Cristobal Aguilar Herrera of Beaverton reportedly stepped into the roadway. Herrera was hit by the truck and died at the scene.
Gotchall was not injured in the collision. Emergency responders, including the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Tillamook Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation, shut down the roadway for approximately three and a half hours during the on-scene investigation.
