Cassia County, ID (August 26, 2025) – A tragic crash involving a semi-truck and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 22-year-old man early Monday morning, August 25, along Interstate 84 in Cassia County.
According to the Idaho State Police, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. near milepost 234.7. Authorities say the pedestrian, a Rupert resident, had been driving westbound in a 1999 Chrysler 300 on the eastbound shoulder when he crashed. After exiting the disabled vehicle, the man entered the eastbound travel lanes on foot.
While standing in the roadway, the pedestrian was struck by a 2023 Freightliner semi-truck driven by a 30-year-old man from Saratoga Springs, Utah. The pedestrian died at the scene. The semi-truck driver was not injured and did not require medical transport.
Traffic along eastbound I-84 was closed for approximately five hours as investigators and emergency personnel worked to document the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
