Battle Creek, MI (July 16, 2025) — A late-night crash in Battle Creek ended in tragedy when two teens were ejected from a vehicle during a rollover incident early Monday morning.
According to reports, officers responded around 1:10 a.m. on July 14 to Irving Park Drive near Parkway Drive, where they found an overturned vehicle and two severely injured passengers. Police say an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, both from Battle Creek, were hanging out of the vehicle’s windows while the driver performed reckless maneuvers, including “doughnuts,” in the park and parking lot. When the vehicle rolled over, both passengers were ejected.
The 18-year-old male passenger was pronounced dead at a local hospital despite lifesaving efforts. The 17-year-old female remains hospitalized with serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that alcohol and reckless driving are suspected factors in the crash. The driver, an 18-year-old Battle Creek resident, was arrested and booked into the Calhoun County Jail on charges including operating while intoxicated and reckless driving causing death and serious injury.
