Florence, SC (September 24, 2025) – A deadly three-vehicle crash occurred Monday night in Florence County, leaving one person dead and two others hospitalized.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 7:45 p.m. on September 23 along West Main Street (U.S. Highway 378), near Katelyn Drive. Authorities report that a Toyota sedan traveling westbound crossed the center line and struck an eastbound Ford pickup head-on.
The impact caused a chain reaction, as a Volkswagen sedan, also traveling east, crashed into the rear of the Ford truck moments later.
The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of both the Ford and Volkswagen were transported to local hospitals with injuries. Their conditions have not been publicly disclosed. The investigation into what led the Toyota to cross into oncoming traffic is ongoing.
