Williamson County, TX (September 4, 2025) – A deadly train crash claimed one life Wednesday morning just outside the Hutto city limits in Williamson County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. on September 3 near the intersection of State Highway 79 and County Road 110. Authorities say a Toyota 4Runner was either crossing or stopped on the tracks when it was hit by Amtrak Train 22.

The train, which was en route from San Antonio to Chicago, struck the SUV with significant force. The driver of the 4Runner was killed in the impact. Their identity has not been made public pending next-of-kin notification.

There were 71 people onboard the Amtrak train at the time, including passengers and crew. Fortunately, none reported any injuries.
