Fatal Truck Accident in Johnson County, KS — Driver Killed on K-7 Hwy Near College Blvd (August 4, 2025)
Johnson County, KS (August 5, 2025) – A 68-year-old man was killed Monday morning following a crash involving a dump truck and a pickup truck along K-7 Highway in Johnson County.
According to reports, the collision occurred at approximately 8:39 a.m. on August 4, about 0.2 miles south of College Boulevard near mile marker 155.3 on northbound K-7. A 2004 Sterling dump truck, driven by Leslie L. Kendig of Osawatomie, was traveling north in lane two when it drifted into lane one for reasons still under investigation. The truck struck the trailer attached to a 2014 Ford F-350, driven by 52-year-old Patrick E. Clement of Lane.
After impact, the dump truck veered sharply to the right, left the roadway, and rolled into a ditch. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Kendig dead. His body was transported to the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office. Clement was not injured in the crash.
There was no indication of impairment, pursuit, or hit-and-run involved. The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
