According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on October 11 along the eastbound side of State Route 86 near Milepost 168. A Jeep Cherokee operating as a rideshare attempted a left turn when it was struck by an oncoming Ford Fusion.
The violent impact caused the Jeep to roll off the road. Herrington and Weaver, both passengers in the back of the Jeep, died at the scene. A 17-year-old boy, who was riding in the rear seat of the Ford Fusion, also lost his life. His identity has not been released pending family notification.
