Ward County, TX (September 20, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Ward County claimed the life of a Houston woman Saturday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal collision occurred around 3:00 p.m. on September 13 on the eastbound side of I-20 at mile marker 85. A 2020 Ford Fusion and a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia with a trailer were both traveling eastbound at the time.

Authorities reported that the Freightliner, driven by 55-year-old Kristi Kay Morell of Seymour, was moving slowly in the right lane due to a traffic backup from an earlier incident. The driver of the Fusion, identified as 33-year-old Brittini Taylor Ramsey of Houston, was in the left lane and attempted to take evasive action. However, her vehicle veered right and struck the back of the Freightliner’s trailer.

Ramsey, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The Freightliner driver was not injured. Troopers continue to investigate the events that led up to the crash.
