Newfield, NY (October 8, 2025) – A Tompkins County man lost his life in a two-car collision at a Newfield intersection late Sunday morning.
According to the New York State Police, the deadly crash occurred around 11:00 a.m. on October 6 at the intersection of West Danby Road (Route 34/96) and Decker Road. Emergency responders from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Newfield Fire Company, and Bangs Ambulance rushed to the scene.
Authorities say a black 2019 Toyota 4-Runner heading south on West Danby Road struck a 2020 Honda CRV that was crossing from Decker Road. The Toyota hit the Honda’s driver side, pushing both vehicles into a nearby yard.
Shaquille M. Stuttle, 31, of Newfield, who was driving the Honda, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota’s occupant was airlifted to a trauma center and has since been released.
The New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate.
