Midland, TX (September 6, 2025) – A high-speed head-on collision claimed the life of one man and left another seriously injured in the early morning hours of Friday, September 5, in Midland.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at approximately 1:55 a.m. on North Big Spring Street, just south of Loop 250. A GMC pickup truck heading northbound reportedly veered into the southbound lane and struck a 2007 Mercury Milan head-on before rolling over.
The driver of the Milan, 27-year-old Hector Julian Zavala Montero, tragically died at the scene. The GMC driver, 42-year-old Tommy Torres Mendoza of Midland, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
