According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. on December 6 in the 1700 block of Mannheim Road. A 2022 USPS Mercedes-Benz truck, driven by a 48-year-old man, was heading southbound when it crossed into the northbound lanes, striking a 2005 Chrysler Sebring directly.

The Chrysler’s driver, 65-year-old Laurie Jensen of Mount Prospect, was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The USPS driver also sustained injuries and was hospitalized.

Authorities reported that the postal driver told investigators he lost control of the vehicle before veering into the opposing lane. He has been cited for improper lane usage and is scheduled to appear in court on January 16.
